Coupling beams are considered one of the most important structural elements due to their vital role in resisting lateral loads by improving overall building stiffness and reducing impact overturning. The resistance coupled shear walls (CSWs) earthquakes depends on coupling beam (CB) for enhancing ductility system energy absorption capacity. There two main types beams; diagonally reinforced conventionally ones. In case diagonal reinforcement, which is being currently recommended new design codes, more efficient consolidating providing better performance earthquakes. On other hand, reinforcing configuration showed some difficulties terms construction. already existing buildings that have beams, were designed according old codes. These extreme need strengthening resist Therefore, studies been conducted find an alternative scheme walls. methods differed whether using steel plates or fibre-reinforced polymers sheets. Nowadays Fibre Reinforced Polymers (FRP) widely used strengthen improve behaviour This paper presents a summary available literature concerning FRP.
